Benefits of Working with an Online Wellness Coach and Health Care Coach and Life Coach.

Being a life coach focusing on health and wellness using a Holistic approach is so rewarding.  Over the years there have been so many learning experiences for me when dealing with my clients.

Love what you do and everything else is easy.

What is a Health Care Coach?Benefits of a Health Coach

A healthcare coach is your point-person, guide, advocate, and partner. Empowering and Inspiring you at all times throughout your journey. No matter where you are in your journey.  Your coach is your best cheerleader.

Essentially, a health coach helps you design a health and wellness plan that works for you. You and your health coach will create a personalized health plan that will take you from where you are currently to where you want to be with your overall health and wellness goals. He or she will help you choose goals for yourself, and offer accountability towards reaching those goals. It is all about the small steps, and over time, the tiny changes can add up.  Baby steps, this is a marathon, not a sprint.

By working together with a health care coach, you will soon discover more in-depth about your personal vision of optimal health and well-being. Through the coaching partnership, you will also learn methods to identify and navigate around the obstacles and barriers between you and what really matters to you, no matter how big or how small.

In a nutshell, your health coach is there to serve as your health behavior change expert. They are experts in the health and wellness field and trained to help you work towards achieving your personal health and wellness goals.

What are the Key Benefits of Engaging a Health Care Coach?

Here are 7 benefits of working with a health care coach.

A health coach/life coach is educated in the field of understanding where the imbalances are occurring in your body, instead of just guessing based on symptoms. Since health coaches have a better understanding of the root of your health imbalances, they would focus on your entire well-being. You may be working on different areas of health and wellness that are inter-connected to your overall health– mind, body, and spirit.

The holistic coaching would include:

  1. Movement, Exercise, and RestBenefits of having a health coach
  2. Nutrition
  3. Physical Environment
  4. Relationships and Communication
  5. Personal and Professional Development
  6. Mind-Body Connection
  7. Emotional responses to change and limiting beliefs

  1. A healthcare coach allows you to understand why your body is out of balance and what needs to be done for your body through diet, exercise, stress management, proper sleep and supplementation to help bring your body back into balance.
  2. A healthcare coach will tailor a plan according to who you are as an individual and what your needs are. There are plenty of different dietary theories to choose from, exercise plans to participate in and ways to reduce stress. And it can become overwhelming to try and figure out what will work best to restore optimal health for you. There is no cookie cutter, “one size fits all” approach when it comes to getting healthy. A truly functional health coach will tailor a plan for you.
  3. A health coach makes health changes safer for you. With all of the questionable diet programs and supplements out there, you can be easily be sucked into deceptive ways of trying to help yourself get healthy. A health coach will help you to find the ways to gently nourish and support your body’s return to health in ways that are safer for you.Benefits of a health coach
  4. A health coach is going to help you to stay accountable. A lack of self-discipline is something that a lot of people struggle with. But having to be accountable to someone for the steps and processes that you have to take to restore yourself to good health can significantly increase your chances of making sustainable and long-lasting health changes.
  5. A health coach is a teacher. Each coach has knowledge of a range of food that can help your body. The coach is also proficient in stress management techniques that will reduce stress so that your body can heal. The coach is also conversant about the nutrients that you need most to restore your body to optimal health. Including your emotional needs and how that affects your absorption of nutrients.
  6. A healthcare coach is your formidable ally and is here to support you. Your coach will be here as your cheerleader and is here to guide you to answer questions that you may have so that you are not overwhelmed with all of the health information available online and offline. A health coach will educate you so that you can ultimately make the suitable choices to optimize your health at every stage of your developmental journey.

Overall A health coach helps you to change your lifestyle in a way that promotes optimal health, mind, body, and spirit.

Over the last 20 years of coaching people of all ages to reach their goals for their health and wellness, I have discovered everyone is not the same.  Some people get results immediately and some take a little longer.  The thing I find that holds people back the most is the emotional baggage they bring with them from the past.  Once we clear these emotions,-health and wellness seem to come much easier.   Once the emotional baggage is clear, health and wellness is everlasting.

Not all coaches are the same.  Not all coaches can cover all aspects.  Some are good at fitness, some good at nutrition and so on.  Finding a health coach that you resonate with is the most important part.

So, whether you are looking to lose weight, lower your blood pressure, get a better handle on stress, change up your exercise routine, or simply stay well – a health coach will definitely help!

You and the health coach may work together in different ways. You may work together in person, over the phone, and even use texts and emails to set goals and stay on track with your goals and action steps.

Today technology has allowed people to train with their ideal person no matter where in the world they are situated.  I know because I have clients all over the world and even my local clients tend to prefer skype instead of in person as they do not have to negotiate traffic.Working with an online coach is the way of the future.

Thanks for bringing us this informative article. I’m not sure I’d go for a Health Care Coach though, it seems very new and curious to me. I always keep myself motivated on my own. Although I do agree, this would be a great alternative to some people, and lifestyle management is a hot topic at the moment.

I guess I really need one. Off late, my sitting time has increased and exercise time has gone down. I am struggling to take out time for exercising. Another thing is fruits, I am struggling to include them in my diet. Any tips here?

There are lots of things you can do but one I would give you is set an alarm every 30 mins to remind you to get up and stretch and walk around a bit. Feel free to contact me direct where we could have a proper discussion about a way forward for you.

This is a very well written and interesting article, living with Anxiety or having Emotional baggage is a harrowing experience to have.

Would you recommend a program or a article when you suffer from knots in your stomach when you get Anxious?

There are many articles on my site that refer to the affects of stress and you to manage and eliminate stress and anxiety. Once you get rid of your anxiety then the knots in your stomach disappear. You look at the emotional, treat it and then the physical symptoms disappear. Check out this it might help

Hi Helen, wow, I am impressed! I never knew health coaches were so highly trained. I really like this kind of holistic approach and I’m also opposed to the one-plan-suits-all idea. You certainly have won my trust.
How do your consultations work? Do we need to meet up physically or do you offer skype consultations?

Thank you, Skype works very well I have many clients on Skype. Health coaching and for that matter any type of coaching that I do is extremely effective using a video platform like Skype and sessions are worked out to fit into lifestyle commitments and time zones.

This is very interesting! I am an Ayurvedic health coach myself and I see a lot of parallels in our work. I love the idea that you also seem to recognize the deep connection between the body and the mind. In my opinion this is one of most common ignored facts in modern health care!

That’s a great thing you are doing Helen. May be a noble deed. I loved reading your post and I now realized how important your role is. You not only treat physically but emotionally too. You are so correct in pointing out that the longer we keep our baggage, the more it hurts. I have bookmarked your site and will contact you if a need arises. Thank you for good post and keep up the good work.

Yes we are all carrying around baggage some heavier than others. Realising this sometimes is more of a challenge when you do it yourself. A professional can really get to the core issues and clear them. Living a full and happy life is really what everyone wants.

Is it a good idea to learn to be your own healthcare coach? Am I wrong to not wish to hand that responsibility to somebody else?

    Reply
    1. Helen Vella (Post author)

It is a good idea and the coach helps you achieve what you want to achieve for yourself. Your coach guides and motivates, if you can do this on your own then that is wonderful. However there are many who want the encouragement and are motivated more when they work with someone.:)
